This career choice was inspired by a desire to understand why crimes are committed and how to get to the truth by analyzing evidence. Forensic science itself has roots tracing back to the realm of fiction with works such as Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle or The Murders in the Rue Morgue by Edgar Allan Poe, both of which are stories about detectives who use special techniques to solve a crime.
